Industrial Internet of Things drives the upgrade of flowmeter motherboards towards “communication+low power consumption” direction

Time:2026-04-30Category:News

With the widespread application of Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) in process industries, field instruments are no longer just simple measurement tools, but important nodes for data collection and remote control. This trend has raised higher requirements for flowmeter motherboards: on the one hand, they need to support multiple communication protocols (such as Modbus, HART, wireless communication), and on the other hand, they must have low-power operation capabilities in on-site scenarios where there is no power or difficulty accessing power.

At present, mainstream flowmeter motherboards have gradually integrated RS485, HART, and GPRS/4G communication modules, which can achieve seamless integration with PLC, DCS, and SCADA systems. At the same time, battery powered technology and low-power circuit design are becoming key directions for motherboard development to meet the long-term operational needs of non electrified sites such as oil fields, gas wells, and long-distance pipelines.

Industry experts say that in the future, flowmeter motherboards will develop towards a three in one direction of “high-precision measurement+multi protocol communication+low-power operation”. Motherboard solutions with the above capabilities will play a more important role in industrial automation and smart energy construction.
